Pots & Pens creates unique books combining world class cuisine and recipes with high end illustrations and art.

In our first title, ‘Fantastic Creatures & How to Cook Them’, Arvid Baltiswiler and Lotta Ekman combine their love for food and art in a personal homage to fish and shellfish.

Firmly grounded in classic French cuisine, Arvid has borrowed inspiration not only from traditional Scandinavian dishes, but also from his extensive travels around the world.

Lotta’s intricate watercolours capture the natural beauty of the fantastic creatures behind Arvid’s recipes, and they lend an additional dimension to his cooking.

About the author

Arvid grew up in Switzerland and Sweden and showed a keen interest in food from an early age.

At the age of 14, Arvid undertook a three-year apprenticeship at the Hotel & Gastro formation at Palace Hotel in Gstaad, Switzerland, one of Europe’s best-known cooking schools.

He has most recently worked in Norway as head chef at Harahorn Fjellgård in Hemsedal.

About the artist

Lotta Ekman studied at ESAG Penninghen in Paris. After working for several years with painting and illustration, she trained to become an arts and crafts teacher.

She has a deep interest in nature and conservation. With a great feeling for details, plants and animals play a major role in her paintings and drawings.

Lotta works mainly with gouache and aquarelle on paper and has also written and illustrated several children’s books.
